About The Event

Qigong exercises are slow yet challenging. They involve diaphragmatic breathing, stretching & 'holding' which together, stabilise the joints & spine & encourage better balance. The exercises develop strength & flexibility at the same time, perfect for stiff aching joints & muscles, weakness in the lower back & knees, shoulder tension, neck & shoulder problems but also circulatory & respiratory issues, through the deep breathing techniques. I have seen many health problems benefit from Qigong over the years.

Posture will improve. Learning to elongate the spine, open the chest, rolling back & relaxing the shoulders also helps us to lower our centre of gravity. Great for strengthening the legs, relaxing tension in the shoulders. With better balance & a lower centre of gravity,  you are less likely to trip & fall. Or if you do trip, you're less likely to fall.

Qigong is not particularly exciting at first, don't expect any cardio or jumping around but once you know the exercises well enough to not be thinking about what to do next, their benefits are endless & well worth learning. I have rehabilitated many joint/muscle & back injuries of my own, due to hypermobility, & I am confident to say, without Qigong it would have been a much harder & longer process.

Not only does Qigong help rehabilitate physical injury, it makes stiff people more flexible, weak people stronger & helps the tense to relax. The more Qigong you do, the better you feel.

If you chose to join a class you will need to wear comfy clothes & bring an exercise mat. If you have had a recent injury or are post operative please go to 'Contact' & let me know, then we can discuss if a group class is a good idea or a 1-2-1 would be better first.
